Default Helix 5 with ice ducer

Using my Helix 5 with an Ice ducer this morning targeting Rainbows and I was having a hard time seeing my lure. Fishing off a floating wood dock with aluminum pontoons and about 18 feet long. I tried a week ago and was having problems as I had to turn the sensitivity down to 1 or 2. This AM I used a net and pushed my ducer out another couple feet and dropped it 1.5 feet and was able to crank the sensitivity up to 4. I could see my lure when I jigged this time but still not great. I had the same problem in our 17.5 foot aluminum boat last fall. Any one else had this issue or is it just me. Depth reading was 9.5 feet off the end of the floating dock, also the dugout is 22 feet deep and was dug with steep banks. Dogfish

Mine works fine, but I have a new open water transducer. My bet is you have to get a different one. Mine doesn't work for ice fishing unless I drill a hole. Individual purposes?
