Unhappy Sad News Outta DV this Morning

A 16 year old girl is dead and a 17 yr old boy is in Critical condition, after being found in a idling vehicle early in the morning.

Sounds like a carbon monoxide leak, and it was accidental.

Both of these teens are known by my son, and his friends.

The girl has been over to our house recently as well.

This is tragic, and I feel for the families.

It's never a good time, but it's Christmas, that's extra awful.

Let this serve as a stark reminder that when sitting and idling, play the wind and crack open a window.

He's my wife's cousins son, hard times this morning.

Watched it on the news this morning and commented to the wife how sad it was just before Christmas, 20min later she called with the news. I literally almost puked on the spot.

Horrible situation. Every car I had from age 15 till probably 25 were beaters with leaks including exhaust.

How does this happen just idling on the street? Freak combination of winds, parking position, defrost/heater blower going full blast? Just bad .

My 2012 pickup has over 4000 hours idling. Kind of scary to think about. My condolences to the family.

Heard this on the news this morning. Very tough for the families, friends and the schools that both attended. Horrible at any time and absolutely worse at Christmas when families are getting together.

All the best from our house to everyone affected by this.

Geesh that's as awful as things get, my condolences to all involved. A simple exhaust leak and such an awful consequence from it.

Tragic. Sorry to hear this Kurt.

I had a close call one year. Pulled over for a nap in the middle of winter so left the engine idling for heat. Woke up some time later as I was about to wet myself and felt drunk. Realized what was happening and stumbled out of my car to fresh air. It's not something a lot of people would think about. Too bad this wasn't the case for her. Way too young.

This tradegedy hit close to home. This girls sister work for our company. I was out with her and the rest of the crew the night this happened. I did not even no what to say when I received the call early the next morning. Horrible thing for any parent to go through. Like everyone else has said it just seems worse at Christmas.

A horrible tragedy, I can't even imagine. We older generation have all heard these stories, I'm going to explain it to my kids tonight. They're totally unaware of these kinds of threats.

Condolences to the young mans family & friends too. My sister told me where it happened, I was there for my nieces grad this year. How much bad luck do you need to have for that to happen in a wide open parking lot. Such a terrible accident.
