Default Giant lake trout

Went to Peerless for 5 days last weekend. The weather was amazing! Glass calm lake 3 days in a row. The fishing was slow to say the least....But i learned something this trip...THERE ARE MONSTERS IN THAT LAKE!

On day one we blew a starter fuse on the motor, so we anchored by shore out of the waves to fix it. I threw on a big ol storm jig and hucked it out a few times. Soon i felt a whap WHAP! I set the hook and the fight was on, only using 12lb test on a small rod i was the under dog.

The beast took off on a run for the deeps, almost spooling me out of 125yds of line. When i got her in the shallows by the boat and we seen her i thought "no way would we land her" She then decided to dart around the anchor rope not once but twice, i had to pass the rod under while keeping tip pressure. We finally got her tired and next to the boat, my friend then grabbed the tail and belly and got her in (our net was to small)

We quickly took some pictures and let her go, a weight and a few measurements would have been nice....Over 20lbs with out a doubt...could have been 30+, it was one hell of a fish.

My friend caught his first lake trout ever, a healthy 36" 12lb male. It was weighed by the F&W doing studies.

We had one other one to the boat the got off, it was bigger then the one i caught....

Graham is June 1st. We talked to some guys who found some good walleye in peerless, 3 8lbs and 1 9lb. I caught one about 5lbs.
