Default Who's working for Christmas?

For a change it isn't me.

But having had my disproportionate number of shifts fall through Christmas, I just wanna give a tip of my hat to those who keep things running through Christmas. Your efforts go well noticed by myself, and hopefully many others too.
Merry Christmas.

Although I never had to deal with your types of calls Phil, and the standby on a Stat pay was a nice bonus, the prospect of a call at dinner time, or when the kids were getting up always was a bit of a wet blanket.

I still take a moment on Christmas morning, to call our system control operator and wish him a Merry Christmas, even when I'm not on call.

Not me.

I was kinda ticked I had to work today to be honest with you you, let alone having to actually work on the 25th.

Working straight through the holidays. I won’t complain about the triple time made.

Retired at the end of Nov so no call in's during the break and no office clean up while it is quiet. First time in many years.

Having worked Christmas and New Years in the past I know the strain it can put on a family being away. All the best to those who have to put in the time.

Only work I will be doing is killing perch. Lake just opened for ice fishing and tobogganing.

I’ve worked Christmas and New Years many times. All before kids. This is the first year my wife has to work though, since kids. So it’s just me, my 3 year old and my 18 month old. We had Santa come last week before she left for up north, kids loved it. They’re young enough to not know the difference luckily.

As a professional geek, I have never had to... but then I have never earned more that 1x either.

Two years in a row of no xmass work.... prior to that probably five years?

I dont mind it, though xmass at work really isnt like a keep'er between the rails thing anymore. It is borderline just another day of the grind.

I'll be working Christmas night. I got out of a Christmas eve shift. I will do what ever I can to be with my kids on Christmas eve and Christmas morning. They are only young and innocent for so long, I want to soak it up!

Being self-employed I’m perpetually on call, hopefully things are quiet but if I’m needed I’m there. Generally people are good about only calling for actual emergencies on the big days, such as no-heat calls.

Hats off to those of you that do work through the holidays. I'd probably drag up if I was asked to haha. Kids have a way of changing your priorities.

Merry Christmas.

The worst part of working Christmas is having to call someone in. I absolutely dreaded that and always did everything possible to keep **** running. Still had to make a few phone calls in my career to some poor sap to come in Christmas. Hard working blue collar guys are the ones that really need the family time the most.

Default On call

When I was still working ... I always fielded the after hours and emergency callings for my guys over the Christmas season. They looked after the rest of the year & got paid for the stand-by and OT, I did not.

Merry Christmas to all that are working and keeping us all safe and warm.
