94cm is my PR and it didn't crack 20 lbs.

I only seen the picture . later I seen the measurement .

8 years or so ago we got one from Cold that measured 101 cm with the tail pinch. That tail pinch might be cheating the length a little. Of course I forgot my scale to get a true weight. The length and gurth chart said it should have been 28 but it was nowhere near that. I think it was 22- 23 lbs. Good size burbot stuck in its gullet as it came up.

Thanks guys. Saturday went trolling like I thought I needed to do with all the suspended fish. We caught , landed a 78’and son lost one at the boat that was mid 80’s. With the wind Sunday , after 1.5hrs trolling French out of the wind we decided to do what we do best , jig. After searching the hump and finding fish on the bottom we anchored and with jig and sucker on bottom the action started slowly. Son got a 71, 75, and a 77 before I landed the 84.5.

Good aft all. I'm normally a forum lurker and tend to read and learn. Being from South Alberta we tend to travel south into Montana for our fishing road trips, but with the border shutdown we've been exploring other areas. We spent a week last year at Cold Lake in September and had a great time. This year we'd like to go up again, and we'll also be spending time at Lake Diefenbaker as well.

We're looking to go to Cold Lake at the beginning of August. We have a Lund 1750 with a 115 hp. Could anyone advise if the sandbar in Centre Bay south of the PP is passable, or if I stay at a campsite in Long Bay I should be expecting to use the PP launch?

Sandbar is passable just take your time and be careful.
PP launch is good to go but if you want another area to explore and camp maybe try English bay as it is not usually busy at all and also has a good boat launch.

We were out yesterday and the lake did not disappoint at all...lots of 28-30" fish from 50-140 fow cisco's all bunch up on shelves and then you just pick off the lakers....thank god the wind was breezy with a little cloud cover too...plus 30 out...taking the yak out for a go at the lakers now

Be careful in this heat ! Was going to head out for July 1 but at forecast 37c I’m not sure.

Yup heat sneaks up on ya and then it’s too late....slop on the sun screen,hydrate lots, periodically get shade and take a dip....I soak my hat and tend to play in the early mornings....unless the bite is on then I stay out and enjoy the fun.

Watch surface temps as well, once they break 20-21C they can be very very hard on the trout, they don’t release so well

congrats on the win! It was disappointing to miss out on this tournament. Hopefully next year it doesn’t interfere with the walleye tourneys or they atleast announce it a little earlier!

The other day was 17 ish surface temp so it’s creeping up there.
Never had issues though other than a fish that was brought up from deep water and didn’t burp or deep hook set….but will definitely see if there is a temp issue later on in the season on cold lake.

Was fishing with my brother here in BC this last week, as soon as the water temps went above 20C (they are almost 26C now) we stopped fishing for trout because we were seeing the fish struggle during release, don’t usually keep fish but we had no other option. The Lakers especially experience a lot of stress coming from below the thermocline up to 20C+ water and even if they swim away, a lot of them won’t make it.

surface water temp today was
60 degrees in 58 feet of water
all fish released swam away no problems.
this will change as water temps increase

65-68 degrees is when things get dicey, glad to see temps are still good out east

Well going to head out in the yak over the next few days kinda like it a bit cool...I am many shades of white right now...dark, medium and overdone

Top of my feet have croc eyes now too....

We had a really good weekend fished the mornings and spent some time at the beach to beat the heat as well. A few fish over 30" biggest being 34". Always fun when you find these fish up in the shallower water chasing bait seems they love to put on a show for guests.

Well it was a very calm peaceful action packed afternoon on the water. A lot of smoke and little to no boats out and about which just tickled my fancy....toss in the fact that the apex trolling lures were hot especially the 5.5” blue pearl pattern...fishing at 60’ of water depth anywhere from 130-60 feet trolling at 2-2.5 mph seem to be the ticket....we had a blast again....sure is nice to live close to this lake.

A few that got a pic many just stayed in the net over the side of the boat for a quick release.

Looks like you guys had a wicked day out there too!

This past week the fishing was excellent we spent some long days on the water as it was hard to convince everyone to stop fishing. Even got to rescue a broke down boat but it made for a fun weekend!

got back friday from cold lake was so windy on the drive home, and was so smokey some days , the east wind was unusual most days , the fishing was fantastic as usual we all caught until our arms we sore .

Had a lunch date today on the lake and it was calm out but the lakers were not calm at all....double headers and just a gong show for three hours straight...two people doing the laker two step in a 14’ tinner must be comical for those who pass by

Actually for a relatively calm day out weather wise there was very little boat traffic at all....some must like the 30-50k winds for the challenge like we just went through

Find a leeward shoreline and go for a walk tossing spoons.....pike are everywhere pretty much that you could access the waters edge.

French bay launch,
English bay launch,
Cold river launch,
Provincial park launch,
Open area down to water by ski hill,
Walk the provincial park trail that goes along the shoreline areas there go right down to the waters edge.
Now what I mean by launch is to not be that guy jamming up the launch areas but rather use it to get To the waters edge and then walk the shorelines....google earth is a good platform to use to see shorelines etc

Ohh seen people catch right off of the marina too....go to Clark’s and get some grub then toss a few lures
