In the square hooks, tended (or not) by those that have used nylon and outboards since time immemorial

Around the islands at the narrows. By the boat launch on the north side of the lake in that area. Plenty of boats in the area to give you an idea.
Catching them in the slot size will be your biggest issue. Tough to come by. Lots just over 55cm and a few under. Shows that the slot is working in my opinion.

Definitely agree with Dustin, slot size was a challenge to get one in that 50-55 range. 95% of the fish we caught were 60+ cm.
Quality fishery, glad to see it has bounced back in a big way. A lot of well fed walleye and pike which is becoming more and more rare here in Berta. You can tell it’s a healthy fishery feed-wise, tons of fish-eating birds on the water everywhere.
If you have a boat, I suspect you’ll find fish there on almost any quick drop-off. Sonar is your best friend on LLB.
Good luck!

Lac la biche walleye
Just got back from there. Had to fish hard for what we caught, but they were of very good size and of high quality. We fished around the two rock islands around the corner of Winston Churchhill Provincial Park. There’s a pelican out there with a about a three pound pike stuck in his throat, and he can’t get it out. He was there both days we were by there. Tough way to go.

Just a guess, but I think he is alluding to netting. Square hooks…

He's using "clever" code to refer to native fishermen and their nets.
