Default Pike photo contest checking if there is interest

So here is the deal if members here are interested I will offer up 4 lures of different designs I make as a prize for a pike photo contest. Something to boost up some more fishing related content and show so respect for the pike out there. Not thinking anything real fancy or complicated

Say a time frame from July 1 till October 1

Photo quality would play a role. This won’t be all about pounds or inches show the pike in a tasteful manner. If you have artistic talent with your photo a big plus. Not going to lie I like big pike but a quality photo with good fish handling will trump size

Only pike caught between July 1 2021 till October 1 2021 would count.

I would ship lures to the winner at no cost

If there is a reasonable amount of interest by the end of June I will post up a thread for people to enter their photos

I like where you are going with this, but being mostly a solo fisherman, any picture of a fish I am releasing is crappy to the point I dont even bother anymore.

Great looking lures.

Could always attempt a pic of the pike in the water coming in or being released. Make the best of it and see what you can do. It doesn’t need to be a hero shot or even show the angler. It doesn’t need to even show the whole pike be creative

The reason I did not make it about inches is I want anyone to stand chance and see how creative some can be

Wow, Smoky. Those lures look great. Do you hand carve them out of balsa? Or is there a mould you can buy and then hand paint them? Ever do any with a diving lip? After seeing your post I watched a couple youtube videos demonstrating how to make them. Lots of different tricks to personalize them from what I saw. I'm not much of a fly fishing guy so didn't get into tying and I never thought about building lures and crank baits, but I find it very interesting after seeing yours.

I hand carve a master out of wood mostly cedar. I then make a mold to cast them out of resin. As for styles of lures I can make basically any style of hard baits, wire baits, flies but limited knowledge with soft plastics

Been doing it a long time and acquired a lot of knowledge/skill over the years. A lot from just doing it and some from other builders. For the most part I have screwed up lots and learned from it

I will run this photo contest and some other designs of mine will be shown. The jerk bait posted, a large tail spin I have been testing, a crankbait of some kind and maybe a top water or another crankbait for a different depth is what I am thinking right now for the contest. But who knows what I might come up with by the time it’s done

If you have questions regarding lure building feel free to PM me

Here is an example of the tail spin design that will be offered up. I have been getting good results with an early prototype this year

Not a pretty pick of a pike, but this guy swallowed my hook, so what better place to post a pick of him, maybe I can recoup a hook haha. Not a monster, he just hit 32 inches, but it was my first pike of the year.
