Default 11 foot Ugly Stick?

I have a new 11’ ugly stick that I bought as a gift for a dear friend. He lived to fish on the ocean but he passed away before being able to get it home.
My question is: would there be any use for this rod here in alberta? Carp, sturgeon, slough sharks? I’m not currently a fisherman but am planning to get back into it in another year or so.

Keep or sell?

Would be great for fishing in the NSR . You can reach out farther with it to reah a hole . Also if you place the rod in a rod holder on shore ,it will be great because being high it will keep more of your line out of the water .

I would say keep it because you will end up like me if you don't. I gave away and now after a few yeas I am wishing I had my long rod with all the river fishing I have been doing.

Default Definitely a keeper, thanks.

Although seeing the rod gives always me pause to reflect on the loss, I do have good memories as well. Could try sturgeon fishing if it’s still allowed. Also sitting on the banks of the Oldman eyeing up the occasional pool or backwater on the far side. He was from a much warmer climate and I still chuckle when I remember his first pike. He screamed “barracuda!” and dropped his rod. Some of the other fishermen in the area thought we were nuts.

Fun times.

I’d load it up with a shooting head fly line and see how it delivers a roll cast.
