Now what I mean by launch is to not be that guy jamming up the launch areas but rather use it to get To the waters edge and then walk the shorelines....google earth is a good platform to use to see shorelines etc

Ohh seen people catch right off of the marina too....go to Clark’s and get some grub then toss a few lures

Well another Monday on the water for a few hours and it was fun, three double headers and lots of fish to the boat even this 34”er....apex trolling lures rainbow trout and brown trout seem to be the ticket.....then we went into the boat launch at French bay area for some pike to finish off the outing.

What a lake!

Those that like to eat some lake trout Supper Store is now selling them in Edmonton . looks like around 4-5 lb in size when caught .

Well the weekend was hot. Only my second time open water fishing the big lake in the last 15 years but we got on them again. Easily 120 fish over Saturday and half Sunday.....3 over 75 and I'd say an average of 65cm. Had the whole area to ourselves and never ventured deeper than 70 feet. Saturday we had about 15 double headers and for most of the day it took longer to land a fish than catch one.

Excellent fish mlee, I have a bunch of those staple tubes as well and they are basically all I tie on for tubes anymore it seems.

I ordered these late winter and never got a chance to use them till this weekend. They outfished everything else by far. I ended up losing the blue Cisco one on a poor net job with an aggressive fish (all on me lol) switched to the clown one and hammered all weekend. I'll definitely order more.

Thank you sir. Not sure what I'll do if I'm there in poor weather though....the spot I've been going to is an 8 mile hike from the PP launch lol.

Well got back from BC salmon fishing on the island and woke up after a two day drive with a fixing for lakers…lunch on the lake with my wife and a few double headers…7 into the boat but all 25” or less….still better than a poke in the eye….

We were out yesterday.....40+ in the boat all jigging in 50-70 feet. 2 over 75 but good average size....not many fish smaller than 24-25". Wife got the biggest of the day.

We were out for a short time enough for a sammich but It was entertaining.....this time of the year I got hunting on my mind....too many decisions....landing lakers and thinking about stand placements...

Well went out this afternoon for the so called “quickie”….it will hurt tomorrow when the horse show falls out my arse…9 fish caught all in 170’ to 200’ of water in which my pink lady, gang troll and behind it was a 4” apex trolling lure rainbow trout colour at 70’ of water….two 32” and one just over 30”……one had good shoulders on it and peeled line so I was a bit exited….not bad for a quickie!!!!

Very windy on the lake today ,must of had 4 foot rollers out there .

A wee bit much for me.....heading out soon today....to a secret hole

Lakers are closing as in no retention 15 sept - 15 Nov....I personally leave them alone and go after pike etc...

Well after telling my wife about the outing the other day she said giddy up.....forecast was 9km winds but the water was bucking for the little tinner....calmed down later which made for a good morning on the water.

Got to meet briefly JR on the water.....nice fella and what a boat too....

Again we were on the larger fish in deeper water....had a blast trying to stay afloat and land fish too!

Nice work, jealous of the ability to hop on that great body of water anytime (when the winds are nice). I got to experience for the first time this year at the derby and loved it.

Wondering if you could drop a few shots of your set-up with the pink lady. Been something I have been playing with to get deeper as I don't want to mount downriggers right now.

So we run two pink lady’s, a small and large one, the small gets down to 40’ and the large 60’ of course give or take based on the boats speed and amount of line out. I like to try to keep the boat at 2mph for trolling speed and zig zag over bait balls and fish marks.
We run two rods a 7’ medium action with 20lbs braid for the small pink lady and a 7’ medium hard action with 50lbs braid for the larger pink lady.
Attached to the pink lady is a willow leaf or series of spoons to give a little flash imitating bait and then behind that is the apex trolling lures 2.5” to 5” in the colours shown in the picture....now these come in different widths giving a slower action on the wider ones and a faster action on the slender ones.
We will run different presentations until one rod starts getting hit more then we go to the same presentation and then just enjoy the rest of the day.....usually with many double headers.....funny I used this same set up on the west coast for salmon and it was dynamite there too.

Ohh like to add that even in 200 FOW the fish will dart up and hit the lures too but sometimes they take a run a the little spoons....as soon as we are on the motor is put in neutral and we bring both lines immediately in to ensure no tangles happen...many time the other person reeling in hooks up too resulting in a double header

We showed up around 10 yesterday.....someone was having a bad day. Fishing was pretty good....they definitely seemed a bit lazy though. Another oversize to the boat and lots of 65-70cm fish.

Well went out yesterday wind was supposed to be 11 clicks from the west...ha!
Launched in French bay and thought I would poke around there but my gut said get out off landslide over by garnet and head west to deeper water so off I went....picked off 9 real quick and was happy then the wind jumped up to 28 clicks and the little tinner was a bouncing so trolled back real careful like...life jacket on and kill switch attached too....one wave just crested the bow....got a little shelter from the wind as I gotta closer to the launch area...funny how far you get blown when trying to land a fish

Now to wait for freeze up.....

Oh the one laker pictured was a odd ball as he wouldn’t come in just circled the boat with his dorsal fin out of the water and a mouth full of lure....every time I went to net him he bolted for the deep just to surface and repeat a few times...nicknamed him “Jaws”....

Fishing was unreal this past week with the spawn . Found one spot where they were stacked 40 feet deep . Just thousands of them . Had double headers with every pass with the down riggers . Would of jigged if we did not have 4 ft waves .Took me 30 years of fishing this lake to find where they spawn . Might have been because I never fished sept before . Till next year !
