Did you try hanging it in a warm room overnight ? Is the weight missing maybe?

If you're refering to the camera cable not staying straight, making it hard to keep the camera in one spot, I had the same problem. I found a tripod set-up at The Fishing Hole. It has a rubber stopper that the cord runs through and sits atop the tripod. Problem fixed! Spans my 10" holes No prob.
Ok, just re-read your post and I'm a bit off, lol. If hanging it up while warm doesn't work, you might have an internal cable too tight, puling it from the inside.

You know that lead that you buy from the fishing hole that comes in a big slinky roll? Ya well get that and start wrapping it around the circle weight and work your way up! Works fnarastic!
