I fished it in the winter many years ago. There are pike and trout. I had a large trout about 6 or 7 pounds swim up to my hook but no bite. If I can remember right I think we got skunked that day. I remember the nice clear water. I hear it can be quite slow from others who have fished it. I think there is a bait ban. Check the regs.

As well I have not fished it for years but I do know that the Alberta brown trout record came out of that lake thru the ice quite a few years ago. Not sure if it is still the record but it was somewhere near 17-18 lbs. We used to troll flatfish in the summer and got more pike than trout. Enjoy and post results if you go...sk

It's definately a slow lake to fish. There are some bigguns in there however, as I believe the last 3 provincial record browns have all come out of there. But 1 or 2 fish is a good day.

If you catch a trout you've had a good day. The pike are much easier to catch. The lake does contain some big boys though. Let us know how you make out, good luck.

I caught a laker through the ice a few years back on swan. It was the only fish we saw on a full day of fishing out there. It was around 6lbs or so. I've had good luck for pike there in the open water season as well. Only during rain and wind storms for some reason.

For the spawn. There's big fish in there for a reason.

No one on the lake because it was closed. Better check the regs.
