Default Chain Lakess - South

Tried to introduce wife to ice fishing yesterday ( kids were with us as well, too little to fish ), did not go well. Lake was slippery ( usually it is covered with snow), lots visible cracks and non stop cracking noises. Is that normal or safe? Usually I could hear few cracking noises but nothing like that. It looked like people did not care, they got their trucks on ice. I took them back to the van, friends and I continued fishing. Other than that fishing was good, one of the trouts was full of roe. ( did not expect that )

Thanks
