I wont be on the mend for a while. Doc says a viral infection in my lungs, and a bad sinus infection - on top of a GI bug... I'm off work for the week, and not going farther than the sobeys down the block.

Next time on the ice will probably be the B&G weekend. But I will slay some burbot for suure

I'm on the mend and looking for someone to fish with next monday (27-feb)

If anyone is interested, let me know. Anywhere in southern alberta is fine, leaving from Mahogany (52nd st & 22x) in deep southeast calgary.

Fish or no fish, it will be fun... Perhaps a nice follow up to a good weekend teaching kids how to wrangle walleye and burbot

Default A great day for a great cause!

Wow, who'd of thought getting 4 hours of sleep and heading out would turn into such an enjoyable day! Sure was glad we all got the tents set up early because the wind took off like nothing else today.. oddly enough, the kids all showed up for the boys and girls club event - some dressed like eskimos and other dressed a lot more casual, yet it was as adults who were bickering about the weather.

Smiles all day, good conversation with some new friends, and way too many hot dogs (not pointing fingers at any encouraging volunteers at the bbq.... ) ended up being a fantastic way to spend a saturday morning/afternoon.

I never had an opportunity like this as a kid, so this day meant a lot to me to see so many kids happy, and was very glad to be a part of it... Even though kids didn't catch fish, they were so excited to look down into the darkness, and wait for a fish to come by.

I'm inspired by the joy of working with these kids, and am considering volunteering with the boys and girls club...

hats off to chubb - as said in the event thread - this event couldn't have happened without you buddy... that may have been the highlight of the winter season for some of those kids - and it started with a little idea - and turned into a great show!

A great day it was. Great to meet you today.

The kids had a blast and I never had one say they were cold.

well, seasons over for me, unless beeguy and i find time to hit a secret hideout, anywho, seemed to be pretty successful for a first hardwater season - got into some 5lb pike, some decent sized walleye, some hog brookies and some delicious rainbows and burbot! Guess this summer, my bucket list will be large, but still alot of learning to do on the fly.

Until next year...

My friend wants to take his daughter out for one last day of easy fishing. Anyone know if there's still good ice at Chain Lake?

saw barely any. Just a few tiny tiny small ones this year. Saw some blood on the ice, but only 1 patch. Think we're a couple weeks late for the spawn.

Went out with a buddy to a nice little spot the other day. Got into some solid 2-6lbs pike. ice was decent, not truck worthy yet however on this southern res.
