Spray lake trail had 1-1.5 ft of snow at the pass, and slush/snow throughout. Upper K lake parking lot had 1ft+ of snow, almost got stuck checking the ice there. Lower area's weren't hit as bad. Powderface trail, yes, I drove it with my little 2wd sunfire was snow covered, around 20cm, and slushy/very icy in places.

mostly covered on both surfaces. Perhaps we will head up there next week dace. Can I pull your leg? I bet it'll be ready for ice action in under a week (upper for sure, lower might take a few more days).

tried a new spot at lake x this morning, and got skunked. My colleagues however harvested 5 brookies between 14-17" however, 4 females a 1 male I believe the count was. Incredible morning. Had one take, and literally lost it 5 seconds later... endless bummer.

following that, I met up with beeguy, and we hit PCR tossing bait from shore into OPEN WATER - PCR looks DANGEROUS right now! that wind destroyed whatever was there... Landed my first burbot just as the sun went down, followed up with a puny little 'eye.

All in all, a new species, great scenery, and a nice nap is a great day to me

Default PCR today

Great, quiet day on PCR. Only a couple of other people on the ice with us. Pulled 6 burbot between myself and beeguy, and 1 walleye. The people fishing away from us hadn't caught anything, but came over to check things out, when they walked back to their line, bang, burbot on... ended up being a good size one.

Attached a couple pics of the day! Enjoy... burbot are even too ugly for my cell

Oh, 3-4" of clear black ice.... sketchy!

Default A day of personal bests

Had three personal bests today :

1) ~2lbs walleye - not weighed, but judged looking at ones weighed by wayne minutes prior
2) 5lbs 3 oz pike - I was so excited to see this. The only other pike I had caught was about 9-10" long out of the bow... does that even count? lol
3) Lost 1 rod, the first one ever!!! - I will always know to anchor my rod holders from now on. Sorry ORV - the rod went to great use, however, all rods goto heaven... atleast it had fresh braid on

So the story - kind of turned around and didn't see my rod there, and thought maybe JTS had stolen it playing a bit of a prank on me, but eventually it ended up a cloud of bait underwater, and a little copper bell on the bottom following a waynechristie investigation... that rod is history... didn't even hear the bell go... lesson learnt? Open bail, or anchor the rod down... The tip up I used in place worked very well though.

JTS, Wayne + Wife, Fishermanguy + gf/wife, Nelson, thanks for an awesome day... I missed someone, who was it?

he actually stood up when I got there, so i shut the car off, put the 4 ways on to warn upcoming cars, and rolled the window slowly.. He looked at me for about 30 seconds, and than knelt down once again to continue his feast. After about a minute, I used some innovative techniques (loud music, horn, etc) and it took off... I'm sure it was back within 10 minutes but I feel I did well to keep it off the road
