I like to get away from the crowds and like previous guy mentioned-too much difference from one spot to the next. If it varies from 36 inch to 30 inch that's fine but from 12 to 6 and yer in trouble. I'm taking my sled and make an adventure out of it on gull and sylvan the next couple days. Hope everyone tests it for themselves and no bad wrecks for boxing day.

Happy, these fish are from the spot I told you about. You will see a bunch of my holes as I was fishing there later today.

Today was tough. Hit the lake at first light and had several whites come for a look but not commit. Had a few walleye hammer the vibrato.

Moved to the spot north of the Norglenwold launch and had 2 whites inside 5 mins. Very aggressive around 1pm. Fished until 4pm and saw a few pike and more walleye before packing up.

6-8 FOW over weed w/patchy sand. Same orange/black grub 8" up from the vibrato jig.

Cheers,

Scott.

Mr. Happy .... pleased to see you're ... "Shacked-up"!

With all those W/W's you made those Whites don't stand a chance, just remember most Whites are camera shy but the Walleye, Pike & Burb's will attack it!

Wish you all the success in 2019.

Cheers

David

Edit: ... I'll be in Montana in the morning & Salt Lake City on Saturday, look forward to seeing some pic's!

Thanks to posts in forum, fished the Norglenwold area yesterday, arrived at 9 and have 5 whitefish by noon

Fished deeper At first 8-10 ft of water. With no luck., as soon as I moved shallow 4-6 feet water was seeing whitefish. They were aggressive and took hook with no hesitation.

Plain yellow wireworm was the hook of the day

Thanks again to forum members as this was first trip to Sylvan and gave me a great idea of where to start

Any pics of new shack Mr Happy? Went out with bwack the other day , kinda slow for whites but caught a bunch of walleye on jaw jacker and caught a few pike staring at bait on camera.

Went out w/skwatty on Sat.

Tough day fishing wise, really had to work for them.

I got skunked on whites but skwatty got one early and then we moved north as we weren't seeing active fish.

Drilled a bunch of holes and moved a ton. Finally found 'em deep on RR23 in 24 FOW and the Walter bite was ON! Jawjackers with a jig and minnow setup just off the bottom did the trick.

All in it was a great day out with excellent company!

Cheers,

Scott.

Right on Scott, we're having good success this year as well,,, she was Nippy out there yesterday, lots of fishing and archery practic in the Wind. Ha

The gang was probilibly wounding what I was doing walking back and forth across the lake,,, LOL.

It was Time to practic the British Long Bomb shots,,, normally I get 247 to 257 paces,,, the winds helped carry things out to the 285 ish mark,,,, Oh Yha,,, 3 miles of walking on the boots to retrieve arrows.

The Trad bow with 30 lb limbs is easy to shoot,,, it won't be long before I throw on the 42 lb'ers...

The kids at the lake think this is the funniest thing going,,, ice fishing / Archery. I would of off loaded the quad with tracks,,, but it wasn't worth it since I need lots of ground time burning off the festive meals I ate during the holidays.

Old Timer and I are heading to Northern Alberta to try our luck on a few lakes,,, good times with the nice weather.

Dam lucky this year.

👍

Nice whites Moose! Congrats.

Bwacky, what cam do you use? Your pictures always have a different hue and color. Different setting on? Always unusual, and always welcome

From my experience on Sylvan most fisherman get there around 10am, wait for someone to drive onto the lake and set up their shack, then drive within 30' of their tent, drill some holes and set up. Not sure if it works but thats kinda typical.

Just make sure before you leave you do a circle check around your vehicle. There are some guys that will set up in a hole that you previously drilled (close to your shack or vehicle) and lay on the ice. Almost backed over one last year lol.

In all seriousness though the whites have been biting on lots of different colors of WW. A little finicky lately but still biting.

Sounds like gull in its glory days. Nothing was sacred. They would be sitting on your knee if they were any closer. Had to get the whitefish in a headlock instantly so nobody heard the commotion in your shack if you just let them flop. If they heard a whitefish thrashin the place the augers were howling in your ear in an instant. Hated it then but we can laugh about it now and thinkin I better head over to sylvan and gross someone out just for old times sake.
