Anything waterfowl I'm game. I'm 26 live in Swan Hills (2 hrs north of Edmonton) and have just started duck hunting this year. Would love to go with someone more experienced to learn as much as I can. I have a little bit of gear. Some full body goose decoys as well as a dozen mallard floaters. Willing to travel a few hours in any direction to learn and have a good day. PM me if anybody interested. All the water up here is frozen and not a lot of good farm land for hutning anymore in this area. I don't want my duck season to be over!!!!

Great thread Tuc,
Hope you folks looking to buddy-up find someone.
And don't forget to post how your hunts went too,
I know many of the the Alberta Hunter Ed folks personally and they always promote sharing experience with new hunters and I'd like to help, just so backed up with work and all my hunts are booked with family & friends for the season.
Good luck to all.

Never liked to go alone with no backup before...even out with others, it's unlikely help would be real close. At best, you could count on a search party later in the day....
I've got some insurance now:

Great thread!

Hey All. I'm looking for a bowhunting partner on Sat. Nov. 22nd around the Calgary area.+/-. I intend to do a full day out. I have a back up plan that involves 410 but was hoping somebody might have some different ideas as I'm looking for as many different HUNTING experiences in this (my 1st) season as possible. On the same note, if someone wants to come trek around the forest with me I'm good with that too. Pm me If interested.

What do you say we compile a list of guys who would like to have hunting partners. This is not to say it will be permanant but a list that will give a hunter the option to contact another hunter in the same situation that might want to get out for a couple of days or even a day hunt.
Throw some ideas out there guys and see if can get em to float. Alot of new friendships were made this way and some for a lifetime.
If we get something together maybe the mods would keep it pinned to the top for us.
What do you thingk....lets hear some ideas.
Thanx!

Hey there, I'd be into that!!! I'm a new hunter, and if it's Ok, I'd love to team up with someone more experienced to show me the ropes. UI'm certified to hunt now, but not able to buy guns yet. I am taking the PAL course this weekend, so I will be all ready go come FEB or MARCH.

I am all for the "find a hunting partner" thing when it comes to bowhunting, but I am not about to go out with a stranger, a high powered rifle and someone that potentially does not know how to use it. I'll take my chances on my own thanks.

Whatever, each to their own....With all due respect, what I try to do is meet the person a time or two for coffee and go from there. I think you can get a feel for a sound mind by talking to someone for a couple of hours. If there are signs of unstability or loose talk, you just don't go...simple!
Anyrate, I can honestly say, over the years I have met some fine folks on this forum and some I still hunt with today.
Darylo, the hunting season is just about over for this year. I'm sure if your still around this site next year you shouldn't have any problem finding someone to go out with.
G'luck with your PAL course!

I am hoping to do some water fowl hunting but have no friends that are into it. I am in the Calgary area and have all the gear needed except calls and decoys. I am a very safety oriented hunter who always has a good time.
Please let me know if you need more guys on your hunt.

You are aware that you just resurrected a very dead thread, right? Last post, before yours, was December of 2008.

Absolutly
Hi YA
Its tuff to find a hunting partnefor sure -- I am always looking to find a good etical partner -- and the fact that the wife hates me out alone just makes it even more important ( for her peace of mind ) Ive been hunting alone before lots -- but in her words this is now and things change .
I live in Calgary - hunt out of a jeep Rubicon -- looking for big mulies -white tail or a cow elk in 314 - dont smoke or drink during the hunt -- but after not a problem - especially if alll works out - hunting style differes with what I am hunting -- usually spot n stalk -- just into birds this year -- Hunted all my life
Sorry white tail and mulies in 412
Ethical and proud to be a hunter !
Cheers
Ian

to me the best hunt is when I am by myself. I understand when you go out far for a trip.
