Default Using table salt on bait?

I ran out of rock salt and am wondering if table salt will be an adequate substitute. I dont see why it wouldnt help preserve. I appreciate any feedback, thanks.

It'll still preserve it, but the iodine in the table salt will discolor (brown) your bait.
