Well even the though I knew the river would be high after all that rain I decided to take the father in law out to the blackstone for 2 days for some fly fishing. The drive out there was pretty much expected rain and more rain after 2.5 hours we arrive at chungo road only to find out its GONE!! the rain washed it out for about 10 yards not even a four wheeler could cross it! so I said ok lets back track and go to the gap.
After a 26 km quad ride we find out the only road going to the gap is also gone!! about 1 km from the gap if we never hammerd on the breaks we would have fell about 12 feet!! it looked as though a D 10 dozer had a seizure with its blade and ripper down..lol so we decided to set up camp right on the river at the main campground and drive to the good holes and walk to the better ones.
after two days of hard walking in high water we did manage to catch every species the river has to offer including the biggest bull trout of my fly fishing career!! a 33 inch six pound female bully and if im not mistaken that's a trophy size trout for the blackstone river system.
We also caught a few nice rocky mt whitefish and the father in law made his fly fishing debaue with his first cutti and rockys so all in all not a bad trip I cant wait till next year!!
sorry guys aperently my estimation of how long a fish is happens to be flawd!! since I never put this bull trout on the tape all I could do is guess and looking at the photo again I should say 25'' to 28'' is more accurate.
I guess its true what they say...size doesent matter unless its a fish your talking about..lol
