Default Places to wet a line along the number one highway in B.C

Hey there,

I am driving out to Vancouver island along the #1 highway at the end of July. I was hoping some fellow AO members might be able to share some streams, rivers and/or lakes to stop and fish along the way (possibly even camp). I am not looking for anyone's honey holes just looking for areas that are relatively close to the highway to wet a line. I am planning on camping up at revelstoke lake (the reservoir just upstream from revy) and do some fishing there. If there are any similar types of fishing spots that anyone can recommend that are close to the highway and have the possibility of camping (shuswap/golden/kamloops area). Any insight or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time,

T

Default Lac Le Jeune

Not really along #1, but if you happen to drive along #5, check it out. A few kms off Coquihalla between Kamloops and Merritt. Campground near lake, some sites close to shore. Good stop-over point on way to/from Cgy-Van. Rainbows in lake, lots of rises on late afternoons.

I was just out that way (at Savona) and fished the Thompson near the outlet of Kamloops lake and fished in Kamloops lake. There is some good fishing to be had there. Also a campground called Steelhead Prov. Park to camp at. Pretty easy to shore fish there or you can launch a boat at Savona.
