Default lake trout

I was going through a tackle box and found a few Len Thompson No.1 spoons in red/white and yellow red 5 of diamonds. I know those are a go too for pike fishing but was wondering if anyone has experience using that size/color pattern for lake trout.

They work, but personally, I prefer more blue or silver patterns.

That is good to know. Family have a cabin on Flathead and that is exactly where I was asking this info for. We have the whitefish fishing down to a science, but not the lake trout fishing though.

Flathead is a great lake to jig with a bit of sucker meat. There is a sporting goods store in Kalispel, can't remember the name but they can sure set you on the right path.

Also the annual tourney web site has gread videos' on both trolling spoons, and all kinds of lures and spinners on Flathead as well as info on jigging. If my memory is still working the web is just mackdays.com

You thinking of Snappys sports? Yes the know the lake fairly well. Mack das always interests me as on opening day there is always a handful of people who limit out. I can’t imagine catching 100 lake trout in a day yet people do it.
