Default After April 1st, 2018

Seeing as the end of the 17/18 season is upon us and the ice conditions are looking quite good for a few more weeks yet, where do you like to go fish from April 1st on?

I am looking to hit a few new bodies of water and trout lakes, and a river or two before the lakes open back up in May, and wouldn't mind a few new suggestions!

Ill hit the usual camping fishing lakes within 3hrs of edmonton this summer. But like the last 7 years our august fly in trip to vermilion lake in northern saskatchuwan is always worth the wait!!

Do some homework and read the regs carefully. All the stocked yrout open all year and look for open all year lakes. Lots out there to fish. Also look for places not in the regs as there are some decent not listed ones too.

I'm going to make a trek to the Bow River later in April.

I'll probably give the lakes / ponds a rest. but you never know....

You would be surprised how many think fishing is closed everywhere.

Not much of a trout fisherman, but I am well aware most of them are open. Since I have properly read the regulations though, I do not that not ALL trout stocked lakes are open year round. For example, Muir Lake is open May 1st-Oct 31st, and has a bait ban, where as most trout stoked lakes do not.

I know there are lots of places to fish until the majority of our closed waters open back up, I was mostly curious where other people may suggest, as I am always open to trying to new places and fishing for new species.

Believe it or not... I live in Alberta and have never fished the Bow River. I believe its time to change that!

Well if you wait until May 15th when many of the lakes open back up you might still be able to ice fish!

Tried East Pit today. It was terrible one small one. Tried the whole center and east side of the lake.

I had a friend out there yesterday, said he didn’t even mark any on his sonar. I was thinking of hitting it today, but I think i will skip it! Maybe Spring or Carson...

That's not a bad price for a fly-in, I've worked at camps where they were five six thousand a week obviously the farther north you go the more expensive they get.

Didn’t say it was expensive, I just can not justify it. For $1350-$1700 per person I can fish in Cuba or elsewhere in the Caribbean for a week, or spend two weeks on the road across Canada and the States fishing for multiple species, trophy fish included.

hahaha, touche.

I have a hard time justifying the cost of fly in trips though when there are lakes that are vehicle accessible and the fishing can be just as stellar for trophy fish for a fraction of the cost. Just my opinion on the matter. Who are we kidding, there are few lakes and lodges up north the only way to fish is by flying in, and heck, I would love too, but... maybe next year. Or the year after.
