How do you have an ice shack and all the gear and not know to read the regs?

mistakes happen, but calling out fish and wildlife for your mistake is not going to fix it. pay the fine move on

You can't take your hockey ball and go home half way through the game, your rant opened up a discussion to fully understand the regs, even though enjoyed the rant too!

You an always post to Facebook. All kinds of rants up there. Heck there are even local groups dedicated to ranting. Of course then you would have to use your real name and your personal information would likely be sold to the highest bidder

Most outdoorsmen are happy to see the fish cops out and actually enforcing the regulations. So when someone comes on here whining about getting tickets, you're not likely to get a lot of sympathy from people on here (maybe the odd "F the police" guy).

You must not be a regular. Most guys here complain the fish cops aren't out on the lakes enough giving out fines and tickets. Not a group of people that will easily give you any sympathy. You may want to try the poacher sympathizers anonymous. I'm sure we've all made mistakes, done things on purpose or not. Sometimes you get caught and sometimes not. Usually if you make a mistake, take my advice, keep it to yourself. Read the regs every time you go to a lake and chalk it up to an expensive lesson. We all get them in life.

Here is a link to the 2018 regulations. Much easier to read now. Love the CO's out there, wish we had more Nuff Said!

Judging from your low post content I would say you just made a error in judgment. Now you have seen first hand that AO members never make mistakes in the field , and when they do they never advertise it on the forum . Live and learn, as they say.

Just a heads up, there are F&W officers on this forum all the time. I know of at least 3 who are regular members. Its probably not the best place to call them out. Good chance the officer your insulting has now seen this thread and will remember who you are next time they run into you.

So the OP was breaking the rules and got caught and now is whining about it.
Even Alberta Outdoorsman has its share of snowflakes.

Some rants are best left for a bar room with a few pals and not on a hunting and fishing forum where you full well admitted to breaking the law. Too bad so sad. Pay the fine and learn from your mistakes. Bet it won't happen twice.

Now if your rant had have been along the lines of 'geez, I can't believe how dumb I was' you'd have got a better reception.
What did you really expect with 'one*******fish cop'...who was just doing his job.
Please don't tell my still don't know why everyone is coming down on you.

Well I don't know, the guy broke the law, got caught, got a fine, that's just how things work. To come out and complain, and only one guy got a fine when they actually both could have been given fines is, well, kind of off base. If anything he should be upset his buddy didn't offer to pay half. Unless of course his buddy was being polite and cordial with the officers while he was giving them attitude, in which case he deserves what he got.
