Nightforce scope out of clicks and shooting HIGH
So I have a Sako 75 in 243 with a Optilock rings and bases and a nightforce scope.
At 100 yard the gun is shooting 5 inches high and I am out of vertical adjustment. I cannot go any further down to bring the scope to shoot down. I have all the MOA/adjustments/clicks to shoot higher but not down.
Where I am making a mistake?
Thanks

Is there a top and bottom or set for optilicks that are maybe miss matched?

Does the scope have a zero stop?

Is the scope pressing against the barrel?

I am betting zero lock is engaged. You rarely see a Nightforce that is properly mounted run out of adjustments. Speaking of properly mounted; Optilock rings are susceptible to not being properly setup in the dovetails. If you have a culminator handy put it on and move the rings back and forth in the Dovetail to get the best alignment with the crosshair, making sure you have the front ring on the front, because that too will mess with the setup.

Its easy to make a mess with the silly optilock and dovetail combo, I did and couldn't figure out how to get my windage ok, I bought tally rings for the sake dovetail, made perfect sense and problem solved

Interesting thought but whether y run out of adjustment at the range or on the bore sighter the outcome really is the same. Something is causing the scope to not be properly aligned to the bore.

I'm not really familiar with the Optilock rings and bases, so I don't know if this is possible, but my guesses would be:
-Is there a built in MOA and you've got them backwards;
-Zero stop set on the dial, limited adjustment;
-Scope simply doesn't have enough elevation range for the setup;
-Scope is out; or,
-Rifle is out.
Probably not the last two, but it's a remote possibility.

After your checking out all these nice suggestions, What did you find was the answer?

Tip
I was told long ago that when you trade a scope to a diff rifle or new rifle,turn the turret all the way left then count each click until it stops turning to the opposite direction,then count back to the middle of that number,then do the same for up and down then count back to the middle as before,then your scope is at exact zero to start.good luck and be safe

If you count the number of clicks for elevation, and convert to minutes, then compare it to the scope specs, they should match. If your scope only has half of the adjustment it should, check to see if the scope has a zero stop engaged. It happens quite often that people can't zero the scope because of the zero stop.

So finally yesterday I was able to go to range and check it out in peace. It was the zero stop that was the culprit. I fixed that and now I have about 80+ MOA left in my scope.....
I am very thankful to all of you guys who were giving me their suggestions and probably be waiting for my response. Thanks again guys. You are all awesome
