Not a lot of space to work on unfortunately... This gun is a PITA to mod.
I added a 1913 short rail in front instead, not too bad with a good laser unit.

I added a full buttstock to mine as well. 90 bucks from Irv at Western Gunparts.

broke down and spent some cash
So I just ordered one from Ellwood Epps. 44 mag. It should be here by the end of next week. I doubt Braztec has done a darned thing with the sights, but I might luck out.

I did the full length butt stock and redid both stock pieces to match the wood up, had the metal cerakoted satin mag, stainless magazine follower and a rear peep sight instead of the safety. Shoots very well, I was impressed! This is my go to bear/ bush gun.

Thats Great
I really like the way your Ranch hand looks. Did you do the finish yourself or have it done?

You can always purchase a Rossi 92 in 357mag. The barrel is a bit longer at 16" but the cost is lower than purchasing a Ranch Hand and adding a full stock, and they are available in stainless. I purchased a stainless one in like new condition for less than the cost of a Ranch Hand, and the previous owner had installed a Skinner peep sight in place of the silly bolt safety.

I did the wood myself and took the rifle to a guy who does the Cerakote.

I handled both today at Grouse River and thought the Rossi cycled smoother?

I've done some mods... longer stock, new sights and some internal parts, but I still don't feel comfortable with the way the Rossi cycles. This is a defense gun and above all, it should be reliable which it is not. I found that different ammo cycled better than others. I have let this sit for a year now, and after reading this thread, I think I am going to try and figure this cycling problem out. I can't remember what I ordered, but it came with a DVD which was very useful for disassembly / assembly, but I still found it would not cycle properly.... grrr

My R92 in .45 long colt cycles great right out the box. I understand about not being happy with it not cycling reliable.

Hi mine was shooting 2.5 feet high at 50 yards, I just took a dremmel to the rear sight and took the V down as far as it would go and took the adjuster out so the rear sight sits on the barrel. It is now shooting a couple inches low with just the front sight showing so now I just show more front sight to adjust.

I seem to recall the factory being .375 or .410, and the "fix" for shooting high was the taller .450" or .500".
Try CanadianGunNutz...

Interest talk regarding practically of this gun. I also set a regular butt stock on my 44mag ranch hand. Had a custom built scraper made for it to fit my horse. The gun is lighter than my 4570 guide gun and shorter, weight is everything on a horse, and it comes out of the scraper quick. Last year out back of my place I had a momma moose with a calf on the trail, my daughter some how got between the mom and calf. Talk about a p***ed off mom, and a rodeo of horses. Anyway ranch hand comes out quick, I ended up chasing the mom and calf away without having to hurt the mom, but the gun did what it was bought for. Bear protection is not the only game in the bush.

I bought one long ago, mid eighties if I remember. Never had a feeding or ejection problem with thousands of .357, .38, or reloads from 125 gr to 180 gr.
As with most lever actions, you need to cycle the action like you mean it.

Front sight all sorted out, Boyd's stock on, cycle tweaked.....good to go.
Put 50 rounds of .38 and 100 of .357 threw it today without a concern. Fun little rifle to shoot. Deadly accurate out to 70 yards.......then the front sight washes out the target, 12" paper plates. Good enough for me

I understand the feeding problems can stem from shooting 38 special in the 357's, 44 special in the 44 mags and 45 colt in the 454 casull models.
I haven't had any feeding problems (or ejection) with my 44 mag.
By the way, the goofy safety atop the bolt can be easily fixed with a dremel tool.
