Default Coming back from the US

Interesting trip into Montana this weekend. Occasionally we run down to Havre for the day and grab a few things that we can't get here in Canada.

On our way back through the Wild Horse crossing, the American's had the lane open for inspection. First time we had to stop coming back, we were asked for firearms and ammunition only. Talking to the US customs official, this may become a common inspection tool to search for firearms and ammunition being brought across the boarder.

So just a heads up for those who are cross boarder shopping for supplies and firearms.

Default American Border

Quite routine at the Coutts crossing to be stopped before you hit Canadian customs by American officials and asked about firearms and ammunition.

A lot of guys think it is no issue to bring parts, powder, bullets, primers and so on across the line. The issue isn't with canada customs it's with U.S. export rules. None of the above can be brought up without being federally licenced

I've had baggage checked by homeland security when flying back from the US a dozen years ago

We have been check coming through larger entry boarders like Coutts, but never through the Wild Horse boarder. Thought it was worth mentioning for those who bring reloading supplies and other firearm related items through this port.

There arw still many people that are foolish enough to risk being banned from the USA, buy bringing components across. The most common defense, is that it's only illegal, if you get caught.

Banned is the least of their worries isn't? Could be stiffer penalties than that. Not sure how that defense would hold up in a U.S. court lol and I'm not willing to test it
