The 450 Marlin goes by "Vera", from Josh Wedon's "Firefly" series.

Keep em coming,

I thought about this some more...i know people that shoot 'big boy calibers' and like to bug me about my 'pea shooters' so if you shoot a big boy gun and also like to tease buddies with pea shooters etc. lets hear the names you like to use to for these little guns.

So far i had quick thought of Napoleon for his 'little man syndrome' or mighty mouse....a sense of humor for this naming process will definitely help.

So please chime in here, i did some searches as i thought i'd seen threads like this before but apparently i'm challenged in this area.

A few teasing names could be Petunia, Gertrude or Mabel. For a small calibre you could use Tom Cruise, Danny Devito or Joe Pesci. I wouldn't mess with a rifle named Joe Pesci. A really large gun could be called the USS Missouri or even The Bismarck. Regular names could be Floyd, Billy or Stan.

A thought just came to mind, one that revolves around mocking the PETA hardcores such as Heather Mills. Name your rifle Heather Mills or Pamela Anderson, etc, etc. Then you can start adding up how many animals Heather Mills has killed.

Default Nicknames

You could name it Daisy as in a BB gun & when your all alone on the mountain hunting sheep you could snuggle up to her & pretend she's Daisy Duke.

My boy used to call it the "big nerf gun". Well I got him a big nerf gun a few years back. But seems more interested in chasing the 2 legged does around now instead of the 4 legged ones.

Default Its not easy...

All I got is an old .303 british. She's pulled off some wonderful shot for me over the years... I like to call her 'meat getter'. Its all I can really afford for now.

The problem is I hunt with alot of real die hards... nice weapons all.... they constantly refer to my riflr as 'ole sharp stick' cause they figger its only good for putting the bayonette back on and stabbing game.

Hunting buddies........ priceless...

Name your gun after your wife but throw the word "good" infront of it. EG my wifes name is "Heather", my guns name therefore is "Good Heather". Never admit what this is implying.

I love the Heather Mills idea!

Some of the best ones I've heard:
-'Ol Sloppy for a mid 70's win 94 (it deserved the nickname).
- Toot - for an old beat up 10/22
...and my favorite - The Mushroom Cloud Dispenser for a sako 7mm

I just picked up a 10 Ga. Spanish double here on AO.After the test firing and a coyote and a crow or two, I christened her "Big Rhonda" cause she packs a wallop like a big redheaded farmgirl I used to know, they are both kinda heavy too!

My Dad's favorite hunting rifle, a M70 in .338 Win. named Thumper, and boy has that thing thumped a few critters over the years!
