Try to find a nice old bushnell spacemaster 2, 15-45 zoom usually go for $200 used on cgn
They are built like tanks and are heavy.

Check out opticsplanet.com, even with exchange and whatnot there's some really good deals on there once in awhile.

I bought a new spotting score last year and from what I recall most are either above $600 or under $500. If you can stretch your budget to $700 I would say get a vortex diamondback or leupold ventana. The diamondback is smaller and fits in a pack but the leupold has a clearer image

I just won a 20-60x80 Vortex Diamondback this past weekend, seems like a pretty decent one so far.

With the exchange rate it may not be the case but the Czech company Meopta made a fine spotting scope at the upper end of this price class.

Meopta makes excellent optics and has for over 70+ years. Sadly they were caught on the wrong side of the Iron Curtain so their optics are heavier than Western European glass (Swaro, Zeiss, Leica, etc.) but the quality is excellent.

I have a Nikon that I use and I sheep hunt with it too. 20-60 zoom and 60mm.
It cost around 600 about 10 years ago. Very clear glass on it. If you are interested I can try and find the name of it.
