Default Powder Storage

I know this has been a topic that has been kicked around, but I have a question. I want to move my powder from house to garage. Garage is heated to 5C in winter, but can get up to 25-30C in summer. It will be in a sealed box so no drastic temp changes quickly. Also never heard of this, but can I throw a few nuggets of water softener salt around the containers to act as a dessicant?

Is 30C to high a temp to store powder for say 2-3 months a year.

Oh and have a Happy New Year everyone. Best wishes for 2023. Hope it is better than 2022.

Kept mine in the storage room in basement for close to 59yrs constant 15 -18c and never had a problem 30 would not be my answer with constant up and down temps. Just my thoughts.

I keep mine in the house, on a 19 degree C / humidity controlled shelf... Specially fabricated for storing gun powder.

What temperature does your garage get up to on the hot days of July and August?

It's well insulated stays cooler than the house never really measured? Wouldn't be any where near 100 F

Several months of exposure to high temperatures (above 100 degrees F) can substantially shorten the life and the expected performance of propellant. Cold temperatures have little effect on propellant. In fact, the best possible place to store your propellant would be in a freezer

Good article Bat. Looks like it is good for 81 years at 100 F, unless I'm reading the article wrong. Heck I maybe have 20 years left before I become fertilizer, faster in higher temps. LOL

My basement gun room is probably 18c, no issues in the filing cabinet.
