The OP didn't ask any of you for approval, just how much diesel or cleaning is needed.
Maybe let him worry about his own stuff outside the scope of the question.
Think of the children, Dean... LoL

I just wish people would do the same in threads asking about bringing firearm related parts back from the States. (MYOB)

But there is truth to the whole "diesel slip-tanks aren't meant for gasoline" thing... Definitely a legal "no-no", and fairly dangerous.

Also if you had it marked diesel and had gas in it. If someone stole it they might not notice and wreck their engine. Thats probably illegal as well.
If someone stole fuel from you, and they ruined their engine, do you really think they will run to the police to tell them that they stole the fuel from you,

And we live in a world now where in the courts the guys stealing would likely win this one.

I don't think they sell diesel slip tanks.
It's up to you to decide what you're putting in it, and act accordingly, as far as the rules are concerned.

Not sure about pumps, but pretty sure wiring is different for gas versus diesel? Don't want static with gasoline. Diesel don't care.

You can do whatever you want. How many times have you ever been pulled over to have your slip tank checked. Fill it with purple, you’ll be fine.

My Dad swore the same thing a tobacco can of diesel in the tractor tank every once in a while did them a world of good. I once was filling up my motor home out in Jenner (Gas) and I grabbed the diesel hose and put a couple liters in to top it off. As a former fuel hauler I can assure you that diesel, gas and even methanol are hauled one right after the other. So the chances you have burned all three toghether are pretty high.

Yes, but you'd have to run a 1202 as well as 1203 placard

Would it be as easy as emptying it and running some gas through it to purge the lines and pump?
Changed out a few. Just drain it and fill it. No overthinking required..

And now I see this is a three year old thread. Lol

Guys missed my post when got some diesel in my 68 pontiac. If you think it is lot of fun dropping your gas tank and flushing it well have at it. Recommend a very good flush before switching over to gas from diesel.

I used to add a litre of diesel to my 82 CJ7 a couple times a year.
Once a year I would pour diesel some directly into the carb until it stalled out and let it sit over night.
Had to turn it over a hit the next day and would smoke a bit.
It's now passed on to the SIL and still going strong.
A small amount of diesel will not harm a gas motor.

When the fuel delivery trucks fill wrong tanks and mix fuels by accident, they suck the customers tank out and dump it in the card lock, and fuel station tanks.

Everyone burns some diesel in their gas, and gas in their diesel.

Usually what you don't know won't hurt you.

If you ever have to do that again just put some ai pressure to the tank and push it out the fuel line.
No need to drop the tank.

A small 12v transfer pump is probably the easiest way to drain the tank.

A friend did the same thing on his old trans am. Must be a pontiac thing? Lol

He had forgotten that he filled a red gas can with diesel. Then later put it in his car. The car wouldn't run after that.

Holy crap, my 3 year old thread revived. If anyone's still curious all was fine with the slip tank. I just drained the diesel and filled with gas. zero issues. used it for 2 seasons then went back to jerry cans.

Why is it (almost) always new member with a single digit reply count that digs up old threads?
