Default Check your huckleberry/blueberry patches

We have blueberries on one of our quarters and they are ready to pick so we went out to our favorite huckleberry patch and they were not as good as two years ago but we did get two gallons picked.

I am now seized up and even liquid wrench won't help LOL!!

This is about two weeks early to any year we have picked. I have never seen as many low bush blueberries but we kept with the huckleberries. The other blueberry patches West of us are in full production and won't last long.

Cranberries are already turning deep red which is also about two to three weeks early.

Get out there and check!!

Now off to Langara Island Lodge for some good fishing!!

The blueberries have been out for a month or more now on the jobsite in Blue River and man are they thick this year! I picked half a 5 gallon pail in under an hour.

We will be picking Hucks on Aug 10 & 11 in our usual spot in the Vanderhoof area.
For now back for day 2 of fishing off Sooke,

Good luck in Langara.

Wow, absolutely zero huckleberries on the bushes that were loaded last year.

My son who lives in the Vanderhoof area said that might be the case with the low moisture this year, and I figured there would be fewer, but never expected zero.

Moving on to our property near Valleyview this weekend for blueberries and the last of the raspberries.

West coast fishing was good at least.

I finished picking at 3000 feet the end of July, best I have ever seen, picked 15 days staight. Was up to a usual spot yesterday at 6000 feet and they are struggling, no rain when it was needed. Picked a half gallon and many leaves for tea is all. Glad I pushed through the bugs and heat in July.
