I have witnessed many times were a police officer is out directing traffic indicating to proceed without actually looking if it is safe to send traffic through. Last month I stopped to allow the ambulance attendants to roll the stretcher back to the ambulance with a patient while the police officer was angerly indicating he wanted me to go straight through.

And I have been clipped by a side mirror while working but I let my guard down assuming the person directing traffic was doing their job.
Yeah if I walk out into traffic while on a job site, that’s on me. I’m referring to the airhead on their phone that swerves into my barricades and kills me. At least if they’re moving slower I might stand a chance of jumping out of the way.

So there I was tooling along at 110 yesterday on the Yellowhead when I see flashing lights up ahead. 4 cop cars and an ambulance occupying left lanes on both sides of the divided highway and an obvious rollover in the median. Only the right lane was available in each direction. Sure enough as I am slowing down the usual Platinum tailgate Ford driver is bearing down on me from behind and continues to ride my bumper as I pass the emergency vehicles at 60kmph. As soon as we pass the carnage, said Ford driver pulls out, his motor screaming and he cuts in front of me by about 4 feet. This is not some young kid or a newbie to our great country but about 40 to 55 age. This in my observation is the age bracket I see most aggressively driving these days, the children of hippie parents.

I totally agree. It’s gonna be dangerous. I’ve used the Sheikh Zayed main Highway between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, this is titled as world most dangerous highway. I don’t agree it’s more dangerous that Hwy 2 between Calgary and Edmonton as there everyone travels fast, no police only photo radar to monitor traffic at every overhead sign. As far as I’m concerned a highway where some travel 70km/hr and some 160km/hr plus now all lanes must slow down to 60km/hr for police pulling over vehicles is even more dangerous than ever. Even main highways in Houston where everyone is moving 80mph is safer, the traffic flows and all are aware and understand the concept including the highway patrol. Oh well, I steer clear of Hwy 2 if I can help it.

Funny, I have seen a couple of comments about Ford Platinums. Where I drive the a holes are almost always dark Ram diesels with oversize tires, usually with a sled deck. Almost makes me want to stop driving my dark Ram.

Default Effective Sept 1 Revised Traffic Act

It appears common sense has prevailed to protect all roadside workers without the potential "all lanes" impact on the major highways and expressways as proposed in the initial roll out.

Keep speed below 60k and/or vacate the adjacent lane. Anyone has who has to work next to highway traffic for either employment or mechanical breakdown can attest to the dangers.
