wanted to try spring lk tomorrow and was wondering how to find the public access point

Only access I know that is left is to park at the Park office and walk in.

Hard to explain, but..... There is a small parking lot right at the large "Welcome to Spring Lake" sign on the road that runs around the lake. Behind that sign is a public footpath that connects to the large field next to lake.
Quite honestly, it's a tough sled and hard to access. I suggest you might look into joining the EDM Trout Club. You will then have a key to the gate with a road running right to shore, and get to use the cookhouse. Spring Lake will be one of the only lakes around edm. that you can ice fish that will be aerated this winter.
