Default Introduced Young Hunter to Coyotes

I took a young hunter out for coyotes for the first time today. Two minutes after turning on the caller, a coyote came across the field on a dead run, and stopped 50 feet from the young fellow. We were back in the trees, and the young fellow got excited and hit a limb, and I could not get a clear shot because of the trees. The young fellow tried a running shot, no idea if he even came close.
A few minutes later, another coyote is headed in, but slow and cautious. At about 300 yards the coyote held up, then decided to trot off, and I missed a shot at it trying to shoot between the trees.
We moved to another field and set up only to have two trespassers on electric bikes ride up to our set up to investigate. We informed them that they were trespassing, listened to one idiot claiming that there were no signs , and sent them off of the property, with a warning to not return.
While we didn't kill anything, the young fellow is totally hooked on coyote hunting.

Sounds like a near perfect gateway day into a lifetime addiction.

Good on you, any time you introduce young people to something new in the hunting / fishing or anything in the outdoor world it is the best education you can give them.

Sounds like you had a great day

We are going to head out next week again, to that area, and to another couple of the landowners properties as well. I may even bring a shotgun next time for the close running shots. Hopefully, we don't run into any more trespassers, the one woke idiot actually got offended , when he was told that it is his responsibility to know whose property that he is on, and that no signs are required.
