thanks for the comments. It fought ok and did a few jumps, but it never took me too long to get landed because I was standing within a few short feet of the pool I was casting in.

Atta boy Moose! Well done. I was about your age when I caught my first fish on a fly. It was a 12lb Atlantic Salmon and my heartrate goes up just think about that fish over 20 years ago now.
Couple of tips.............give us a smile now and then! Don't look so grim dude! Also, make your pics a bit smaller so they're easier to view (I upload mine to Photobucket 320x240ish) for those who aren't on high speed.
Either way, good job, thanks for sharing, keep at it and have fun!

Right on Moosehunter, I wish I was your age when I started fly fishing, but I assure you age has nothing to do with the excitement you get from your first fish on a fly rod.
Next is your first big trout, which will recalibrate your expectations of "Fight".
Thanks for sharing, and have fun.
Tight lines.

It is certainly more of an art than drowning worms.More like hunting fish in a stretch of water...........I'm begining to like it.Even if a guy caught nothing the scenery is worth the price of admission.....................Harold * next is fly tying. Dang I think I'm hooked!

Nice going Moosehunter! There is a whole new world out there of fly fishing. Kudos to you and your dad for going after it.
P.S. I think your dad is a pretty amazing guy for all that you two are doing together.
Cheers!

Good job!!! It may not be the biggest of fish, but at least you still got one!! That's awesome. Fly fishing is an art that quite a few people can't master.. stick with it and I'm sure one day you will catch the "big one"

Good job Moosehunter I remember my first rainbow caught on a fly rod out of the bow and it was awesome and was surprised I even landed it in my net. Keep practicing and your casting will get better and better with less tangles and some big fish as well.
