It was a great day out on the ice, things started out slow, but picked up around 3:00pm. Guessing I seen no less than 50 to 60 on the camera, sometimes 3-4 at a time. The water was crystal clear, so had great visibility. Can not wait to cook up the back straps from the 29", got two 19" chunks of meat from him. Would have been supper tonight, but the gf had a meal of roast beef waiting for me.

Glow in the dark jug head, with Parker's minnows, is the most common set up I am aware of, but I just used a #4 treble hook with a split shot on the shaft, topped with one or two Parker's.

Pretty simple to do. Cut all the way around behind the head take a pair of plyers grab just the skin right above the spine and peel the skin down to the tail like taking off a sock. Than all meat is exposed and easy to start cutting off the bones. They are my fav. To eat. Good luck.

I like to use 2 pairs, one on each side. There back straps are literally straps, same as a deer lol. Cut along the spine then cut off along the ribs. Once you get about an inch or so past the vent then you can flatten the knife out and filet to the tail. If your good you can end up with a 20"+ long chunk of meat. When cooking I prefer to cut the straps in half I find they cook better that way. I use a 1/2 n 1/2 mix of panko and pancake batter mmmmmm

Nice fish. Instead of skinning them I just peel the back pieces away from the bone (like taking chops off a deer), fillet the tail normally in the same cut and then take the skin off the entire fillet after.
