When will they realize that the first step in stopping systemic racism is they have to stop committing crime? They are the ones responsible for creating systemic racism, is it so hard to see? Is it too politically incorrect to address the real issue? Without confronting the real issue it will never go away.

4% of the population is responsible for 30% of the crime, think about that. Let’s tackle that issue first. This is real numbers. I’m not racist I'm a realist. I have friends who are good people, they might be all different colors but they’re all good people and that’s all that matters to me. I watch my kids play outside with all the neighborhood kids, none of them see color, none of them care where the other kid comes from, and do you know why? Because they learn this from their parents. Racism isn’t a problem here, it’s an excuse. People are so concerned about being politically correct that they refuse to address the real issue at play and expect to solve the problem....... How the eff is that going to be possible? Why does everybody pretend they believe this will work? I don’t get it.

Elitist? Is that the SJW/milennial/snowflake/liberal/entitled term for law abiding now?

Typical opinion meaning live within the law and no problems arise? Yeah, I will take that, thank you.

Learn something every day, thank you for that too.

Ok Ken, I have quoted my original post so your thick head can read it again.... There is no hidden meaning, just a view that if two officers were mandated, well these one on one battles may be prevented.

But you feel the need to spin things, preach your high and mighty god complex and generally be an azz if others opinions don't match yours.

Your slinging of insults is sad, your really need to take a break from the prison you have created in your own head.

I remember as a child when the local police came to the schools. They wore as part of their kit a flashlight that had like 25 D cell batteries in it.
I'm far from an expert, but a wallop from a big flashlight might take the fight out of a feller. What ever happened to the billy club? no need to wrestle, limited hand to hand combat. Reduced for weight savings perhaps?

You have to use force when force is required. Or pepper spray, or tazer or baton or firearm, depending on the severity of the incident and the threat level.

Apparently you have never had to deal with a beligerant drunk?

Every try to reason with a screaming toddler when you dont have a treat?

Not sure how I can make you understand if you have not lived it at all.

When a LEO says hands behind your head fingers intertwined what happens next is 100% your control. If you choose to refuse orders, expect what you get.

Why is that so hard for you to grasp?

A single Police Officer is expected to carry out his duties for the entire shift, and if you think an entire shift or 2 is best utilized trying to reason with an unruly idiot, you are sadly mistaken. It sometimes has to be ended fast, and they need to be ready for the next call.
With all due respect Mr. Corvette, can you please explain how a man with such strong anti-crime convictions was never given a job as a police officer. Seeing as how you apparently have lived it? Ride-a-longs and close associations and all. Do we see a sense of frustration at a thwarted career?

Riddle me this Ken. If a policeman orders you to extinguish your cigarette while you are sitting in your car would it be considered a lawful order and failure to comply as an indictable offence? I saw just such a demonstration of police power when a video appeared on the television news portraying an officer kicking the turds out of a woman pulled over for speeding all the while proclaiming "When I give you a lawful order you WILL OBEY!"

A bunch of years ago- 40 or so, I worked as a doorman at a large venue cabaret. People would come from all over the city knowing there would be rowdy behavior even if they had to precipitate it themselves. The crew would get thrice yearly lectures from the constabulary on "excessive force" and believe me, if a 6'6" 300 lbs. 'bouncer' was to run across the room to tackle and thump a patron being escorted to the door in an effort to prevent his co-worker from getting hurt it would have been considered excessive and more than a few times the employee would face criminal charges for that treatment. How many times had the C.C.P. told us that a 'sleeper hold' was criminal and very hard to accomplish?

Add in a clearly pro-white agenda and I can clearly understand why a non-white citizen would believe that any encounter with a law enforcement type would be a frightful one.

I applied for the RCMP when I was 18 in 1985.
They were only hiring females, natives, or bilingual.
There was a 5 year waiting list.
I applied for LAPD and Texas Rangers. I was accepted to both.
I found out the life expectancy of an LAPD officer at the time was 5 years. Pass. Texas had no interest for me so I followed another path.

I took criminology in school, but was happy with my chosen career.

The frustration I have is the Crown not following through after the LEO'S give them cases. I am anything but liberal, I believe if you contravene laws you should suffer the consequences. Is that wrong to you?

If a LEO is doing an investigation during a stop and you are blowing smoke in his face, what do you think?

Comparing a Peace Officer to a 300 lb bouncer is quite the stretch. You know what a Police Officer is there for.

My 6'4 375lb uncle Bob worked at the Cromdale. In Edmonton His wrists were the size of most mens calves. A drunken loser pulled a handgun and shot at him one night. Bob wasn't hit but tore the man to pieces.

Should he have sweet talked the guy with the gun while he readied for the next shot?

unfortunately Kurt the pendulum swung far to one side and will take years to get back somewhat on par....normal logical citizens see this and do outnumber the ones that dont see good people of all colors, nationalities etc but unfortunately this minority uses racism as an escape goat will squeal and that will get the grease first....kinda like a kindergarten class and that kid acts up...disrupts the class and gets the teachers attention....over and over...that's what our society has amounted to today but hopefully things will get better.....

Is it possible that there actually is a problem with some officers in Canada whose illegal/criminal behavior towards some is rooted in racist attitudes/beliefs?

Is it possible that certain people groups represent an inordinately high percentage of crime in relation to their numbers?

Is it possible that the vast majority of officers do a tremendous job of protecting and serving the public at large in situations that the average joe would find exceedingly hard?

Is it possible that very real problems in the US are transferred into Canada, where things are not nearly the same, by Canadians devouring American media?

Is it possible that First Nations people are affected by generational effects of residential schools?

Is it possible that people need to own their own damn issues whatever they are, regardless of your mother and father being messed up addicts?

Is it possible that a good start is to both respect and have a healthy fear of cops to the extent that it causes you to listen when they speak the first time?

Is it possible that city councils like Edmonton defund police to give money to pet causes that will play well in media and hel0 garner votes in future elections?

Is it possible that cell phone cameras are simultaneously both a positive and negative for the public and law enforcement?

I would say the answer to all these questions is yes, which means what we all should know which is that... life is complicated and does not often lend itself to simplistic solutions.

I have no answers. All I know is that our world is beyond messed up. Heavy sigh.

Is it possible that we will never resolve this problem because we are too scared to step outside the vail of political correctness and confront the real issues?

Will it take a civil war to get us back on the right track?

I’m afraid at this point it may be the only option.

For those of you slinging insults, I see no clear person at fault. Take a deep breath and play nice, use the block feature, or take personal issues to PM. When there are multiple jabs back and forth, it won't end well for anyone.

Well, all I know is that when an arrest doesn't go well, bad things can happen to a police officer. Growing up, I went to church with a mountie who got jumped by 4 individuals, all very intoxicated, when he pulled them over just Northwest of Cardston....sort of towards Standoff. They almost killed him, and beat his face so bad with a broken bottle he looked like Jigsaw. Seriously bad. I believe he retired as he was too disabled to work.

And more recently, one beat with his own baton. I didn't hear anyone protesting 'criminal brutality' on this one...
