Default Carson June 30th - Question About Spinning Lures

Hey Guys,

My friends and I headed out to carson on saturday and had a lot of fun each catching 1 or 2 fish away from our limits and all being really good sizes. (Had a very satisfying bbq right at the daycamp site).

I caught 4 fish off of a simple baiting rig with marshmallows and powerbait. I did not want to hit the limit right away as the rest of the guys were still taking their time so I tried lure fishing for trout for the first time. We were all fishing off the shore and I used a "Blue Fox" spinner lure and then also tried the "rapala countdown" lure with no luck. I had only one strike on the blue fox lure later on in the day. Any tips on how to rig these types of lures for better performance for shore fishing next time? Or are these types of lures best for on-boat fishing.

Thanks!

Mirko

I almost always used to have luck with trout spinners if I attached a snap swivel to the end of my line and had the spinner on the swivel, with a medium sized split shot about 1' to 1'6" above the spinner. Works good from shore or on a boat.

If you didn't have a swivel on your lure probably was not spinning correctly, along with twisting your line in the mean-time. Adding a swivel will make your lure spin nice and smooth without twisting any line/ not spinning at all.

I've always trolled flies at Carson and done quite well.

I see guys using all kinds of spinning lures from Willow Leaf rigs to Panther Martin, or Mepps they all seem to catch fish, some more than others.

Never been much of a bait fisherman, in winter I will tip my flies or mitzy ditzy with a maggot. Again lots of guys do well with bait.

Use what works and enjoy yourself, a bad day of fishing is way better then a good day at the office,

Indeed . Do you use the lures from the shore with a high success rate?
