I have a Panisonic DMZ-FZ5. It's not small but it's not huge. 12x optical and 48x digital zoom...although I personally hate digital zooming.

Default panasonic

Yup, Panasonic too. DMZ-FZ4 I think. 10x optical zoom, built in image stabilizer and a lieca lens. It takes SD cards which you can buy for very cheap. Small enough to fit in a side pocket on my fanny pack. Have had it for almost 2 years and so far no problems. Panasonic gives you good bang for the buck. If I remember right when I was looking, a Cannon with similar features was 150 bucks more, too much too snap the odd shot of scenery or an animal.
Good luck on your search

I'm a canon guy through and through

i have a Rebel XTi with a 300mm lens on it and am totally in love with this thing

But its kinda bulky to carry in the field...so i also bought a Canon Powershot A550 for such occasions.....it take great pictures...easy to use and is small enough to throw in a pocket for hunting.

Canon FTW

I see in a London Drugs flyer an OLYMPUS SP-510 Ultra Zoom for $279.00.

7.1 meg-pix 10X optical

Looks like a good deal.

I have a Kodak very similar that I payed close to double that a couple years back. I'm tempted to pick up an OLYMPUS for a backup.
