Hammering Walleye @ Sylvan! PM for spot

I've been out the last few days in my little red canoe and having just been hammering walleye and pike. I took sopme kids out and we reeled in 8 fish ranging from 2-15 pounds over two hours. I then went out in the evening and hammered walleye. It's great to see a healthy population with good size distribution. I found an excellent spot with literally a walleye every 1-5 minutes. I've been finding at Sylvan that slow presentation is key along with the a charteuse jig. PM for the spot on Sylvan. Tight Lines!

Thats awfully generous of you. I love walleye fishing in summer. Favorite thing to do ever, is what makes fishing fun. Glad you are having success...have to try to get out this weekend.

i used to fish from the dock @ boat launch.
caught 30+ eyes in 2 hrs.
3 people together, we landed more than 100+ eyes in 2hrs.

you can't do that anymore as now it's under seasonal closure due to the high catch rate. Oh well fun while it lasted. I'm just gonna give up the spot becasue I don't want to answer 100+ PM's Itt's C&R so I'm not to concerned. The spot is infront of SunnySide Pentecostal Camp in the bay just to the west of it. About 120m from shore theres a sharp dropoff. Drop er down right there and use a charteuse jig moved really slowly. Best of luck!

wasn't the seasonal closure only till june 30? I should re-read the regs before heading that way on the lake.

Yes, it ends on june 30th. I read the sign yesterday while I was there for the first timewith my son. We were there for about 1.5 hours and caught about 12-15 walleye between us. The guy fishing next to us was using shiners for bait and between him and his buddy and kids they caught a fish just about every cast. He also caught a Pike while we were there.

Well with that logic, i guess we shouldn't be fishing catch and release lakes with walleye in them during the summer. I guess we shouldn't fish at all during the summer. Stay home people.

I wouldn't call it logic. There are a lot of factors other than sport fisherman that kill fish. Nothing illegal about fishing in the summer. They closed part of Sylvan off in the spring already apparently because of dead fish caused by fisherman. Whats next? The people that are complaining are ones that live on the lake, but they are too self righteous to think that their homes and development would affect fish habitat.

Really whats the point of "hammering" them in hundreds? Fun? It is borring and not challenging and plus it certainly contributes to mortality of the fish. I would say this catch and release 100 walleyes a day thing is quite weird, why even bothering hurting them and risking hooking mortality?
I would rather go to Travers, Sherburne, Chin or other reservoir where you can keep them and have a challenge of catching a keeper.
To me 0 limit walleye lake should be a place where walleye is protected and if you cought it there by accident you realese it and hopefuly no harm done, but to go specifically there and "hammer" them?

It is clearly no secret that there are tons of walleye in that area because there are tons of people fishing there everyday.I went there so my son could actually catch somethng better than an 8 inch trout from a trout pond. I wanted him to see something different as he was starting to lose interest. It makes it alot more fun for children at first when they do not spend the whole entire day looking for fish and only catching one. I could spend every day fisking and catching nothing, but I am also not 8 years old.
The other night when we went for an hour we spent some of that time cleaning up some pf the mess of old fishing line etc. that others had left behind and all our fish went back in healthy.
