truck service needed
Well it is time that I now have to get some front end work done on my 2003 chevy duramax 4x4. I have never had to have this type of work done on my vehicles(lucky i guess). The work I am having done is both sides-bearings, tie rods and ball joints.
I have been quoted all in 2800.00. I have no idea if this is a good price or not.
Can someone give me some solid advice or even if they know someone they trust for truck repairs?
I am in Calgary so anywhere in the surrounding area.
Thanks
HFC

I just had my 3/4 ton Savana get some new brakes with a front end rebuild with tie rods, shocks, an alignment, new power steering pump (was leaking badly) and an assortment of other details for around $3300 if memory serves. I also needed a new brake caliper on one side. The shop was Kirkham Automotive and they're on Horton Rd a bit south of the Heritage LRT station. My buddy has been going there for over 20 years, so I took his reference and was not disappointed. I'll be returning without hesitation.

I would call a few different shops to see what price they quote you. Prices can vary greatly for mechanical work.

I would recommend MOOG Chassis ball joints & tie rod ends, they have a limited lifetime warranty on parts so you shouldn't have to pay for the parts again.
As for the price it's kind of hard to compare pricing when we don't know what brand of parts they're using, if they're using a labor guide at all, if they charge shop supplies, so on and so forth.
Do you not trust their quote, workmanship or professionalism? (no offense intended, just curious)

Ball Joints are the most labour, but parts arent that bad, its the stealerships shop rates that are killer. While you are in there they are 70% of the labour involved to replace u-joints or brakes, it may be cheaper to adress now than 50K down the road if they are getting pretty worn out. Might be worth the peace of mind, especially if you find a good shop with decent rates.
I would try smaller shops, and go with someones reference.
There is a husky in scenic acres I am told is good, planet auto in turner valley also has been good, often worth the drive down to get things done.
I'd call them for some quotes...
I will never use oktire in northmount again, and there is a lot of other shops in the city to avoid.
