Just got Navionics for my iPhone. Is it as good as it seems? Any tips?

You will notice the charts are very rarely accurate...the humps and depth changes are there but the charts are usually off a bit...as much as 200 yards ive found. Its a great guideline though and helps a bunch when planning an attack on a new lake

Agree with you there. It puts you general area, but the app keeps freezing. Mind you this is on my android. Great when your fishing new lakes.

Just disappointed that it went from a one time purchase to an annual subscription

This is my first year trying it as well. Its nice to have the charts but I can't tell if the app is off or my gps is off. The app is telling me I should be in 15 fow, yet the marcum shows me around 30 fow. Either way its still a good guide.

Geezle

I heard that you do not have to renew, but it will not update to newer/better maps. May not have some of the functions either.

Agreed ....

Some significant structure doesn't show up at all on the Navionics .... the stuff thats there is, as you pointed out a "very broad and general" overview of where there is some structure.

BUT - It's far better than a blank screen - for sure.
