I was looking forward to the fall session, with a healthy Mr. Layton as a worthy opponent in the debates that make up our Parliamentary procedure. I felt he of all people would be able to hold Mr. Harper's feet to the fire and to change the face of the separatist movement; indeed, governance in general. He gave new hope after soundly thrashing both the Liberal Party of Canada (although Mr. Ignatieff needed no help doing that) and the Bloc Quebecois.
Although I am not a socialist I respected the feisty little fellow and his courage and determination. We could all use a little more of that in our lives. With luck Ms Turmel will carry on in his place.
My heart-felt condolences to his family.
