Default Navionics SD Card

Does anyone know of someone that would rent out the Navionics SD cards?

I'm headed to the Queen Charlottes and I don't want to dish out $300ish to use it for a week.

What brand of electronics are you running? And are you heading up through Edmonton on your way?

I have the navionics Gold chip for the entire west coast, just bought it for our trip to Prince Rupert the $300 hit was steep but worth it. PM me your number and we can talk.

I am curious...

If Bob has the Navionics card, and Joe buys a fishfinder that needs it, can Bob not copy the files off of his SD card and give them (or sell...ya, I know...) to Joe?

Are the files on these SD cards locked or encrypted to prevent this? Or does Joe and everybody else have to buy their own card?

Can Joe not get a copy of those same files and then go buy his own blank SD mem card, copy the files on to it, then stick it in his own fishfinder?

No you can not copy the cards, once the card is removed so are the maps and details. The only thing that stays on the fishfinder are the waypoints that you choose to save. I was going to borrow a freinds card when we went but his ended about 50 km south of Rupert, that is why I was on here asking what card to buy before we went up .
