Default Calling lake

Pretty sure a guy doesnt want to drive a 1 tonne diesel truck on yet. Curious as to where a guy can park his truck and unload a quad or sled for a days fishing on calling lake ?

Multiple access points for calling. The main boat launch is basically on the southeast corner of the lake and is a good place to stag in my opinion.. I was out yesterday. About 12 groups walked on from the boat launch and 2-3 trucks drove on. About 12-14” of ice right out in front of the launch. We had sleds, everywhere we went had 12” + of ice.

How much of that ice is the good clear ice? According to the farmer’s almanac for ice thickness 10 inches should support 3.5 ton and 12 inches 8 ton that’s quite a jump. White ice doesn’t support as much as clear ice.

To be honest I wasn’t looking that closely. I’m comfortable driving my sleds on 8” of ice so when I measured 14” I didn’t look that close. 14” was measured after scraping snow away from hole so it was bare ice. there were at least 2 trucks near the launch, about 400yards off shore. There was other trucks on the lake near the tower (east side) but couldn’t tell how many or how far they were out from shore.

Lots of people unload at the launch at the provincial park. I think it is about 6 miles from there to volkswagon where some people head. I think it is about 3 miles the other way from there to the tower. Should be able to catch something in either place.
