Thumbs up Buck Lake Report. Pictures and Video

Was out on the Buck Lake yesterday for the first time. 2 feet of ice, drove on it no problems. Fished in 10 to 16 FOW. Was expirementing with bait yesterday, small jig and fin from Salmon belly, see this Thread for details
Around 11 o'clock I've caught first Pike, then Walleye, and then 3 more pikes! That was some crazy action, everything happend, like in half-hour!
Check the video HERE

Afterwards it got pretty slow, fished for another 1,5 hour, managed to catch 1 small pikes each, and called it a day...

No keepers, but what a blast!

Got my first Walleye of the season!

Thanks for watching!

Tight lines!

the white fish are bigger than anything else in that lake on an average weight jumbos. 1.5 lb perch if you know where to find them . most walleye are under 50 cm hard to get a keeper.

The Alberta record lake whitefish was caught in South Buck lake 18 years ago.
11lb. 10 ounces.

Another good video! I recognize a youthful camo wearing stud-muffin in it! Angler, you didn't show the pike that I caught... It came out tail first, wrapped in my leader!
What bait and set up would you guys use for whitefish at Buck? That's one specie that has been eluding me. Do you need to see the bait, or can you go by feel? Thank you beforehand.

No offense brother) I screwed up with camera and started shooting to late, that footage wasn't great. Also because I'm a selfish and I didn't want to share the glory with you. LoL

Default Drive on?

Where do you get on the lake? I went to Buck with a buddy over the summer and the boat launch at the provincial park is blocked off with pillars so we had to hand launch the boat. I'm curious where you can drive on to the lake?

Default Buck Lake Report. Pictures and Video

In the town of buck lake or the north end campground there's boat launches. The east campground boat launch is blocked off for some reason

Default tough lake

Have been to buck a few times now and hve ony caught pike but if you put your time in on this lake I hear it can be a really good fishing spot!

Have gotten on at calhoun bay (I recommend a tall 4x4, so you dont bottom out)
Or use the boat launch in town as it is a very good boat launch

Exclamation New Report

Just got back from Buck Lake, holy crap it's cold out there, minus 22 plus a little bit of wind. I guess I gonna have to buy a tent in the soon future ))
Lots of snow on the ice, about a foot on average, better avoid driving there with smaller vehicles.
For fishing. No matter the cold, managed to catch 3 walleye and 1 pike. Tip up worked better for walleye today, than a rod, weird? More likely they weren't to active, and prefered motionless bait.
Even though I got real cold, had a lot of fun!

There some pics for ya.

Video coming soon.

Nice video, Angler. As for your choice of music - I'm still dancing! Too bad that I wasn't able to get out with you that day.

Yeah, you missed freezing balls show on that day for sure, but it was biting pretty good though. We should check that lake again one day, we'll try to go deep deep, I bet you there is some hog walleye in that lake, they just require some unique lure presentation!

Thanks for posting those vids. Picture quality very nice, though I prefer commentary to music, but that's just me. I think it's great how you guys can film, edit and post these little movies.
I'm assuming you were at South Buck lake?

Thanks man!
Yes, it is Buck Lake on the south west of Edmonton.
Yeah, I'm thinking of making farther videos with commentarys, it's not just you, I heard it from my other viewers too. I just worry a little bit because of my accent, will see..

I think that your "Terminator" accent will make the videos unique and enjoyable. "I'll be back, fish!" Besides, who cares about what a bunch of schmucks think!
