Default Henday/Yellowhead highways getting scary

On the way out to Stony Plain this morning there was congestion due to an accident before the Highway 60 turnoff. I braked and then saw a tractor/flatbed in the rear view mirror heading right for me, He knew he couldn't stop so he veered off to the right shoulder and ended up ahead of me.

Then on the way back at 5 pm on the Yellowhead a red RAM pickup driver decided to scare the sh** out of everyone while taking the off ramp to the Henday.

I don't know if should change my timing to avoid rush hour, take Highway 37 (need to back track after), or just stay home.

Just get yourself a '90's era 4x4 pickup, install a roll cage, racing seat, and 5 point seatbelt system, and relax and enjoy the drive....

(the 4x4 will also help negotiate the potholes, everywhere)

I had to swerve hard to avoid an idiot who was looking at the light countdown. Combining into the light, the count was at 2, light still green and the guy/girl literally slams on the breaks anticipating a red light If I wasn’t paying attention I would have undoubtedly been parked in his back seat.

Yep, never had any of these problems when the carbon tax was in place...

It's the rare earth metals the Chinese have been putting in our cell phones. The magnetic properties of these metals contort brain cells when placed against the head.

From what I see all these incidents are what I would just call normal everyday driving in Alberta. I think for Alberta the bar needs to be higher to be considered bad.

Know what you mean. Was on the Henday a few days back in the rain. Typical Edmonton drivers, even the fast lane is down to 50, no accidents or obstructions, just crappy scared drivers. Three lanes wide of stop and go and some idiot goes blasting past me on the left shoulder doing at least 100. If anyone pulled onto the shoulder for a peek ahead or because they had car problems it would have been an instant wreck.

I have lived and driven all over the world, including a bunch of places that drive on the left. Edmonton and Calgary, for cities that don't really have all that much traffic, have some of the worst drivers I have ever encountered. The vast majority would never be able to pass a German road test nor would they survive in most busy places driving like they do.

I think it'd be fun to try a German road test to see if I could pass it. I'd have to study first they have some unique rules (ie. passing on the right on highways is illegal) but it'd be neat to see if I was good enough.

I think the biggest difference between Alberta and European roads is the fact that in Europe you have a left lane for a fast going vehicles. Was doing 140km/hr in Austria a few years ago and was flashed from behind by a Ferrari.... moved right and the car just flew passed me. Was trying to keep up with this thing, doing 160.... Was pulled over by a traffic cop. My wife was panicking saying I just bought a few thousand euros ticket. The cop didn’t even mentioned speeding! He said he pulled me over because I didn’t signal lane change.... he was riding my tale at 160km/hr - I saw his ghost van behind me! He did let me go without any ticket just because I’m such a good looking guy, lol!
Here we have people who think that they are to enforce the speed limits by driving in a left lane and refusing to move right so the “speeders” can’t pass!
