Default Rough Sawn Lumber Sources Calgary Area

As the title says, where can I get some quality rough sawn Fir lumber in the Calgary area (spruce and pine is acceptable, too)? 2x6, 2x8, 1x6, etc. 5/4 would be ideal, but not a deal breaker. If possible I'd prefer lumber that is already somewhat dry. I don't need a flat deck trailer load, just a few dozen or so lengths for some projects. Thanks

I've always wanted to get some of that rough sawn lumber that one always seem to see on commercial excavations. They use it between the I-beam pilings prior to forming the exterior foundation walls. That lumber would be both holding back the surrounding soil and serving as the exterior form that stays in situ. It dimensions look like it would make for good small scale timber frame projects & practice.

If you are looking for kiln dried I would check PJ white, we get most of our hardwoods there. If you want bigger stuff or aren't too concerned about dry then try lumber king for fir.

Not sure what you’re using it for but if you need stability and it’s not already seasoned or kiln dried, then you want to season one year per inch of thickness in a covered location, in or outdoors

Just as already mentioned if planks appear extra heavy probably not dry. You need to place stikers ( 1x2's) between each row of boards about 4 feet apart. Pile will dry much quicker and planks will stay nice and streight.
However most guys will usually dry pile their lumber especially before plaining.

It's for some rustic furniture projects - table, bench, etc. Nothing too fancy, hence the rough-sawn appearance. I'm a carpenter by trade but not responsible for ordering materials, and we almost never use rough-sawn lumber so I wasn't sure where to source it locally. Our company has ordered from HC Forest Products before but I'd prefer someone closer to Calgary, if possible.

I do have room to stack and dry the lumber properly. I suppose I'll see how much moisture is in it when I get some.
