The Bow river has open spots all year, should be quite a few with this mild winter we've had.

drive around the city, there are many access points to the river, fish creek park, the bridge under glenmore trail and heritage are a couple real easy access points, drive south of city on HWY 2. access at the bridge.

I don't river fish in winter as I'm an ice fishing addict but I've always noticed open water at the Calf Rope Bridge on Deerfoot, it's the bridge between Glenmore and Paigen.

Bow River. Under the Glenmore bridge. Access from Heritage drive heading east. Open all year. Parking right beside fishing.

And..... expect to not have the spot to yourself.

try these spots... i spin fish some of these spots from shore, whenever i can... and caught me some trout, skunked a few times but i'll keep coming back.

why? my smallest is 18in brown, biggest one 23in rainbow and everything in between. if i can't go out of calgary to fish some far away waters, i'm here in the bow river...

Most of here bodies of water are frozen. He is asking for area with open water that isn't iced over.

Bow River Blue Ribbon part is open all year round, including fish creek area.

Based from the Regulations.

from the Western Headworks Diversion (W.H.D.) Weir downstream to the Carseland Weir (includes 500 m of the Highwood River and the 3 Carburn Park Ponds) but excluding all waters in the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary (see Inglewood Bird Sanctuary) – Open all year.
Apr. 1 to Mar. 31 – Trout limit 1 under 35 cm; All Trout over 35 cm must be released; Mountain Whitefish limit 5 over 30 cm; Bait Ban.

but the Carburn park ponds is frozen last time i check. but Bow River up to Carseland Weir is open and not frozen. and i fish from shore..

South side of Chestermere lake, but keep an eye in ice thickness. Was good sunday(18") but heard a quad went through by the bridge. Lots of people out everyday still and the holes aren't freezing over quickly. Probably find an easy hole to get into
