Default First Whitetail.

Shot this guy Saturday night in 212. My first whitetail and second animal. Really excited about him. 30 yard shot double lung. laid down to rest at about 75 Yards. Grim reapers did a amazing job, Clean thru and stuck in the dirt.

Nice buck, well done.

Wow there are some nice animals getting arrowed this year.

Default Very First Animal

Hey guys, started rifle hunting last year but didn't get anything and picked up a bow again after putting it down for 7 years and got back into it. I went out the other evening and managed to luck out and get this big girl! She was the first animal I ever harvested. Needless to say I'm hooked for life! If you want the whole story on how it unfolded I posted the story in the hunting section.

Enjoy!

Shot sequence

Notice the lighted nock!

Clean pass through grim reaper 100 grain

Not that tracking was needed (could see her go down) this bush is belly/chest height.

Exit side....anyone doubt what kind of blood trail Grim Reaper Razor Tips leave now?

Success can be measured in many ways

Congrats everyone on the trophies taken so far. Hope the rest of your season goes well.

Lefty, love the photo sequence. My goal is to film myself dirt napping a few coyotes and hopefully a wolf this fall/winter.

I used the tacticam mounted to my anchor sight on my bow....it work quite well. The issue with bow mounted cameras is getting the shot...and remembering to hold on the follow through....if you watch the video real time it's hard to see what's going on.

I would have loved to have shot another bull like last year but the landowner has his antlered draw this year and I made him a deal I would take the first mature elk (no calves) that offers me a shot....let me tell you, that cow is a good sized cow! And if how the bull I took last year tastes is an indication (he was awesome) this cow is going to be excellent table fare.

Broadheads are 100gr Grim Reaper razor tips, arrows Goldtip Hunter XT, weight total 385gr...and yes I watched her drop. Actually everything I have shot with them I have watched them drop. I prefer the trocar tips to cut on contact personally....I shoot enough poundage an a fairly quick bow....when she ran away you should have seen the geizers she had going out both sides.

I encountered some bone along the way and my lighted nock popped off...I found it but not the arrow, after I reviewed the video the arrow blew clean through and looks like it takes a bit of a deflection on the way out...I want to find it.
