I favor meal worms, but will use what ever they are biting on. The bolded part applies to any species.

The fish will tell you what they want.

I've used all mentioned above but find I have better success on a 1" piece of worm threaded over the hook of a tiny jig so it waves like a tail while jigging.

People do forget that a small piece of minnow is very effective! Its my go-to when ice fishing for perch.

Good ol giant maggies, have had equal success with original maggies and pink ones. And always go for the double dip.

Meal worm ripped in half is my ticket. The half with the innards hanging out is best!

The Pelvic fins work good. When you cut them off of the fish a piece of cartilage comes off with it. Stick your hook threw the cartilage and it stays on for a long time. You also get some good action when you jig it. I like putting on an eye and a piece of fin on at the same time. Works good for walleye.

Cool

Minnow head is our go to perch bait. Bps has preserved minnows in a zip loc bag they are perfect size for good perch. For some unknown reason ye olde perch eye went ignored on gull.
